History
May 2002
3,200 Vinifera vines were planted on the hill facing the winery tasting room, spreading across approximately four and a half acres. These wine varieties consisted of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.
May 2004
The elegant tasting room was officially opened to the public in 2004.
October 2005
The best harvest or vintage year in Northern Michigan in over 40 years and the first harvest year for vines planted in 2002 for Gill’s Pier Winery. Many of our wines received medals at international and state competitions.
2006
An educational vineyard and driveway vines were planted for visual affect in 2006. Look for the new educational vineyard to become more visitor-friendly in 2010.
2007
After considerable discussion and analysis, the decision to share production facilities with Left Foot Charley in Traverse City was set in motion.

October 2007
A California summer for Northern Michigan and the harvest or vintage has now surpassed the 2005 year. Higher BRIX numbers than 2005, yet with lower grape volume.
May 2010
